About the position
BRIGHT is the exciting new ANSTO program that will design, install and commission 8 new beamlines at the Australian Synchrotron over the next 8 years. The BRIGHT Program’s objective is to deliver to ANSTO, new world-class research infrastructure.
An additional objective we are undertaking is a program to standardise existing PLC solution across the facility.
We are currently seeking a Senior Controls Engineer to Report directly to the Leader and will become part of the PLC Systems team. You will be expected to work collaboratively with the engineering and science groups, supporting the development of control systems required for the accelerator and beamlines.
Duties and responsibilities
In this exciting role you will work closely with other controls engineers and includes design, development, documentation, commissioning and acceptance testing of all aspects of the controls systems with a particular emphasis on improving the existing PLC based systems used at the facility. Therefore, experience in the following specific areas is critical:
Manage projects that cover a broad range of control system activities to ensure timely delivery that meets expectations
Develop conceptual / detailed design, development and implementation of control systems across the facility and within the area of responsibility to provide functional and reliable control systems that support, the needs of the facility.
Program, build or configure software that is used in the control systems using defined engineering processes and procedures.
Perform an appropriate level of test and integration activities for the software and hardware systems deployed in the facility.
