Devonport Depot Manager, Tasmanian Couriers Pty Ltd t/a Road Runners

We are currently seeking a "hands on" Depot Manager to join our team based in Devonport, Tasmania, reporting to the General Manager. 

As the Depot Manager you will be responsible for actively promoting and upholding the company values while overseeing and managing all aspects of the Devonport Depot including customer contract requirements, all service and customer service elements whilst driving a culture of Safety and continuous improvement. 

 An overview of the key responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

  • Actively drive and manage all health and safety elements of operation to ensure they comply with/or exceed all legislative and OHS requirements
  • Ensure that all Customer Operations and Services are delivered to the required quality levels and schedule requirements
  • Ensure all Customer Operations & Services are delivered in a cost effective and efficient manner
  • Develop new business opportunities with face to face visits with relevant customers
  • Drive and implement continuous improvement processes
  • Coordination of high volume express parcel and pallet deliveries in North West Tasmania
  • Ensure that all employees are being managed in an appropriate manner to deliver maximum productivity, whilst maintaining a high level of morale and minimising staff turnover
  • Personnel recruitment as required to ensure adequate coverage and flexibility of staff
  • Conduct regular toolbox talks and induction of new employees
  • Oversee and manage specific client requirements to meet customer expectations
  • Manage the maintenance of the PUD fleet
  • Adhoc tasks and projects as requested by General Manager

The successful candidate will possess:

  • A current and valid drivers licence, ideally (but not essential) Medium Rigid
  • Demonstrable leadership ability to manage teams of employees to ensure targets are met and exceeded
  • Proven experience in a fast paced express transport environment
  • Good knowledge of relevant Transport Awards
  • Exceptional understanding of Sea, Road and Air networks servicing Tasmania
  • Strong exposure to IT systems including Microsoft Suite of programs and Track and Trace technology
  • Understanding of relevant scanning disciplines to enable effective timely tracking of freight
  • Ability to execute a daily plan whilst maintaining a dynamic approach to change
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Strong technical operational and sales skills
  • Ability to work autonomously with the passion and drive to achieve results

Preferable, but not essential, the successful candidate will possess:

  • High Risk Licence Fork Lift

 

Salary will be negotiated with the right candidate and will be commensurate with experience.
