Junior Purchasing Officer

Temple & Webster is Australias number one online retailer of furniture and homewares, with a vision to make the world more beautiful, one room at a time. To realise our vision we need a Junior Purchasing Officer to join our team.

Your role is responsible for ordering new and replenishment stock from local and overseas factories or suppliers, ensuring a smooth and efficient process from factory to warehouse.

What were looking for

The main responsibilities of this role are:

  • Create orders in our ERP
  • Raise the orders with the suppliers and confirm the products, quantities, cost and ETD, and update accordingly
  • Liaise with the Product team and management in case of discrepancies on fabrication, cost, quantities or ETD
  • Coordinate the deposit/balance payment of orders
  • Conduct mid-production check with suppliers to ensure orders are delivered in full and on time
  • Liaise with our Freight Forwarders to ensure all required bookings info and shipping documentation are completed in time and provided to the relevant parties 
  • Work with the Supply Chain team and warehouse to investigate and resolve receivable inventory discrepancies
  • Using your knowledge of purchasing to optimize loading, container utilisation % and resource management 
  • Build a positive working relationship with overseas factories, partners and internal stakeholders to facilitate smooth operational process for inbound goods
  • Communicate to the broader team updates and risks on the supply chain network
  • Ensure all inventory processes across all sites are compliant with auditing requirements
  • Work with management and team to develop and broaden national warehouse strategy
  • Ad hoc support as required by the business

What you already have

  • Previous purchasing officer or stock replenishment experience at least 1-2 years in a fast-paced retail environment
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required
  • SAP (B1) experience is a plus
  • Experience in communicating with overseas suppliers
  • Excellent attention to detail and well organized
  • Experience in the furniture and or homewares sector is preferable, but not essential 
  • Proactive approach to complete tasks and lead initiatives
  • Able to multitask in a fast pace environment
  • Effectively copes with change and is energized by tough challenges
  • Outstanding communication skills (verbal, written, presentations)
  • Ability to partner with a diverse group of people
  • ERP / Order Management system
