Locomotive Maintenance Team Leader

We are looking for a motivated Locomotive Maintenance Team Leader to fill a vacancy in South Australian Branch located in Penfield. This role is responsible to support the Head of Locomotive Maintenance by working as part of the Rail team, you will be required to work on the development of systems, specifications and programs related to maintenance as well as the procurement freight locomotives, with an occasional input into infrastructure maintenance and development.

 Reporting to the Head of Locomotive Maintenance your responsibilities will include:

  • Perform assigned duties in accordance with SCT policies and work instructions; and applicable legislation and/or as directed by the Head of Locomotive Maintenance or nominated representative/s.
  • Work in a manner, which will not endanger himself or herself, or any other person.
  • Conduct the role in a manner that ensures SCT is recognised as a safe, reliable and quality supplier of rail related services.
  • Monitoring of the day to day performance of the rail fleet.
  • Assist in development of specifications for equipment procurement.
  • Leading a team of technicians and allocating maintenance tasks.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate: -

  • Mechanical or Electrical trade qualifications or above
  • The individual must be medically fit and competent to perform the locomotive services.  Medical standard to be applied is the National Code of Practice for the health assessment of rail safety workers CAT 2
  • Workshop supervision and maintenance planning.
  • Rail Industry experience with exposure to Rail Safety Management Systems and maintenance management systems.
  • Rail Industry experience with exposure to rolling stock maintenance and build processes and programs.
  • Track awareness is required
  • Self-management skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in high pressure environments.
  • Familiarity with SAP maintenance system is desirable.
  • Skills and knowledge of all regulations, legislation and standards associated with heavy mobile equipment.
