Irrigation Technician

Aquaflo Irrigation is a family-run business that specialises in irrigation, water tanks, and pumps. Providing water management services to the residential, rural, and commercial sectors in both ACT and South-East NSW.

We are seeking a highly motivated Irrigation Technician to join our growing team on a full-time basis. This role is primarily responsible for ongoing daily maintenance and repair of irrigation systems, and irrigation installation projects as needed. You will be required to work across the ACT and surrounding regions, providing strong technical abilities and support, whilst adhering to WHS policies and procedures. This role may be required to undertake other duties in support of Aquaflo Irrigation from time to time.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Maintenance/ diagnosis/ repair of irrigation systems
  • Installation of new residential, rural, and commercial irrigation systems of various size
  • Repairs to irrigation system, pipes and irrigation heads as needed.
  • Performs regular stock control checks and advises logistics of stock needs
  • Automated irrigation systems
  • Basic low voltage fault finding
  • Pump repairs
  • Carry out installation of irrigation pump/filtration stations
  • Interpret irrigation installation drawings
  • Maintain a clean and safe worksite and vehicle


Skills and experience desired but not essential:

  • Experienced in pipe work with UPVC, HDPE, LDPE, Electrofusion, and butt welding
  • Knowledge of controllers, solenoids, and various irrigation systems
  • Operating and maintaining irrigation systems
  • Troubleshooting
  • Can coordinate and supervise where necessary
  • Thorough understanding of irrigation pumps, ability to install, service and repair pumping systems, set ups in bores, rivers, and dams.
  • Can undertake and assist with installations, repairs, and maintenance projects
  • Keep up to date with industry developments including new techniques and procedures
  • Committed to ensuring all WHS, Environmental and Quality assurance is achieved
  • An ability to show initiative and problem solve efficiently would be highly regarded
  • Excess of 2 years industry experience
  • Irrigation/Plumbing License
  • Good organisation skills
  • Well presented
  • Mature attitude
  • Good oral and written skills
  • Knowledge and experience in irrigation installation and maintenance practices
  • Flexible and positive approach to working in a team environment as well as being able to work autonomously

Please note this position requires travel throughout South-East NSW, which may include overnight stays.
