About the role
The successful candidate will be accountable for planning & design, managing and controlling assigned project(s) to ensure timely completion, compliance with customer requirements, maximum efficiency in the use of Company resources and maximum profitability.
An effective leader, you will be able to lead a design team and communicate to all stakeholders. The position is also responsible for all technical work on a project in accordance with the OHS&E, contract and QA requirements
- Prepare and maintain the Design Plan for the duration of the project
- Ensure that all elements of the design are coordinated between all design team members
- Ensure that all necessary reviews, verifications and validations are planned and conducted, and the outcomes of these are incorporated into the design
- Monitor external design consultants to ensure that the elements of their design (including verification) are coordinated with overall design, procurement and construction requirements,
- Liaise with all relevant Authorities on design and construction permits and approvals
- Monitor and control timeliness of outputs for all design and liaise with the Project Manager to ensure project requirements are satisfied
- Monitor and control design costs within budget and liaise with the Project Manager in relation to any design changes

4 year degree qualification to Bachelor status in engineering
Qualifications acceptable for Member grade of Engineers Australia
Experience in previous Design Management positions supporting D&C substation / transmission lines projects up to 330kV and preferably 500kV and Power Generation projects upto 300MW
Strong communication skills (oral & written) including strong negotiation and influencing skills and the ability to establish effective working relationships with a variety of people at different levels both internally and externally.
Demonstrated ability to work independently to organise and prioritise demands, handle multiple complex tasks simultaneously, set and meet deadlines and follow-through within a fast paced environment with multiple and competing demands
