Public Spaces Planner

Cred Consulting is looking for an experienced and self-motivated Public Spaces Planner to join our boutique Sydney-based community planning, urban planning, and engagement consultancy. You will be part of a small, dynamic team of independent social and urban planners and community engagement specialists, who work for clients within the government, private and not-for-profit sectors. 

This is a new full-time role focused on the provision of all aspects of public space planning including the preparation of open space, social and cultural infrastructure needs studies, strategies and plans, providing urban and strategic advice as it relates to public spaces planning and the preparation of SIAs and Community Benefits Analysis for masterplans and planning proposals. Cred values engagement with communities and this role would include participation in a range of engagement activities to inform the development of studies, strategies, and plans. 

Essential Criteria

  • Relevant qualification in a discipline such as urban planning, urban design, social/community policy or planning, social science, and/or architecture.
  • Familiarity with planning instruments, planning tools, and relevant legislation and government guidelines around open space and social infrastructure planning.
  • Demonstrated experience working in public spaces planning related positions including experience with auditing, mapping, and benchmarking open space, recreation, and social and cultural facility needs and preparation of needs studies, strategies, and plans.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, and a keen interest in engaging with communities and collaborating with stakeholders 
  • Experience in project management and an ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience in Indesign, illustrator, GIS, and Microsoft 365 applications and understands the value of visually appealing reporting
  • Previous workshop and meeting facilitation experience is not essential but advantageous

  1. Salary and benefits:
  • Around $80,000 to $90,000 pa plus super, depending on previous experience
  • Four weeks of annual leave

  • Flexible working arrangements, as agreed with the Director
