Sanctuary Lakes Golf Club, situated in the Western suburbs of Melbourne, is one of the premier golf clubs in Australia.
Our Club is seeking an enthusiastic person to join us in a permanent part-time capacity as the Clubs Finance Manager. Reporting directly to the General Manager the key role of the Finance Manager is to assist the General Manager to manage the day to day financial operation of all of the Clubs activities and ensure delivery of high standards of service to members, guests and visitors.
A key responsibility of this position will be the day to day administration of the Clubs finances which will include daily & monthly reconciliation, financial / management reporting, annual audit requirements, compliance with all State & Commonwealth reporting, the preparation of the monthly and annual financial statements, cash forecasts and annual budget. This position has a broad focus incorporating much more than pure accounting and would suit an enthusiastic, dynamic and adaptable individual who will work amongst a small office team.

Specific Responsibilities included but are not limited to:
Prepare the monthly financial statements.
Coordinate and direct the preparation of monthly management (KPI) reports.
Coordinate and direct the preparation of the company budget, cash and financial forecast for both internal and external purposes.
Maintain appropriate revenue recognition criteria compliant with accounting standards.
Maintain appropriate cost accounting with reference to accounting standards and to align with business intelligence objectives.
Provide analysis on trends, anomalies, variances, and forecasts.
Provide relevant section of the Board pack to meet financial reporting requirements.
Continually drive improvements in business intelligence (BI) to ensure the company has up to date and accurate reporting to preempt and mitigate any revenue, compliance or cost issues.
Continually work with senior members of the team to review opportunities to further enhance financial integration with the companys systems.
Ensure the companys system remain compliant and meet guidelines for the handling of financial and personal information.
Ensure accuracy between systems transferring finance information.
Provide innovation and ideas to ensure the company stays ahead of the market from a finance, banking and reporting perspective.
Maintain a cashflow forecast model for short and long-term projections.
Preparation of cashflow scenarios for ad-hoc projects.
Accounts Receivable/Payable & Payroll
Monthly analysis and review of Aged Trial Balances.
Coordinate and direct the working capital strategy.
Supplier payment review and release of coded and authorised invoices.
Preperation of staff payroll and payment process.
Staff payroll review and payment approval.
Review of monthly payroll tax lodgment.
Review and lodgment of monthly Business Activity Statements.
Reconcile BAS and other claims.
Be able to address issues with the ATO in respect to the clubs returns.
Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
Recommend and implement any changes to further improve the companys reporting and structure.
Procedures and Documentation
Continually develop and document appropriate A/P procedures, including approval hierarchy.
Continually develop and document appropriate A/R procedures.
Continually develop and implement a Project Operational/Capital Expenditure approval procedure.
Provide mentoring, training and support for staff assisting with the above requirements.
Continually review and provide advice on strategic matters for the Executive and Board including contract reviews, margin analysis, contract performance and leakage.
Review and advise on financing & banking matters to ensure the company makes well thought out and calculated decisions.
Banking and Insurance
Ensure accurate reconciliation of daily takings, taking ownership of this function and implementing change / staff training should this be necessary
Ensure all finance software packages are integrated and working efficiently
Review, configure and maintain bank accounts in line with requests from the MD or Board to achieve the best outcome for the company.
Review, negotiate and recommend insurance policies to best protect the company and meet the risk strategy approved by the Board.
Continue professional development to ensure the company is up to date with legislative changes.
Knowledge, Skills and Traits
A relevant Accounting degree qualification
Minimum of 5 years experience
Highly developed customer service ethos
Ability to work as part of a small but diverse team
Initiative, discretion & judgement
Strong time management and effective organisational skills with the ability to achieve work deadlines
Ability to work autonomously to provide meaningful reports & commercial recommendations to the General Manager
Strong interpersonal communication skills
Experience in the golf industry, or Club environment would be highly desired but not essential
Highly proficient with the Microsoft Office programs, MYOB, POS systems
Understanding of golf club operations software desirable
