About our team Aerolite is a long-established quarrying operation situated at Anakie just to the north of Geelong, Vic. We have several quarries and produce a wide range of construction materials. We are amid a major expansion phase and are looking to expand our management team by appointing a new maintenance supervisor.
About the role
The person we are looking for will take the hands-on lead of the maintenance function of our quarrying operation which has both fixed and mobile crushing plants and extensive mobile equipment, The job will entail organizing, monitoring, and prioritizing maintenance as part of the quarry management team to ensure that fixed and mobile equipment is available to meet production demands in an environment where the priorities are, in order: Safety, Quality, Output. The person will need to be able to forward plan work, control subcontractors, and supervise the work of our three permanent boilermakers. You will ensure that there is effective cost control, documentation control, legal compliance, and appropriate maintenance of plant and equipment. Success in this role will be driven by the person's ability to control and minimize any unplanned downtime through proper servicing and planned preventative maintenance activities. You will need determination and organizational ability to meet operation targets whilst also ensuring safety and compliance issues remain the priority.
Specifically, the role entails:
Establish and monitor preventative and planned maintenance plans and ensure work is completed to the required timeframes and quality.
Ensure adequate regular reporting of work occurs to help in the development of future plans and capital upgrades.
Ensure appropriate servicing of fixed and mobile plant occurs when required.
Manage equipment breakdowns in association with production needs.
Ensure that maintenance costs remain within budgets.
Engage in continuous improvement and help develop a team culture that ensures continuous improvement is adopted by all maintenance employees
About your experience
Our ideal candidate will hold a trade certificate in a relevant discipline along with solid hands-on experience in either quarrying or a similar field. They should have experience in planning and scheduling maintenance activities and have demonstrated experience in managing people. Basic computer skills including the use of spreadsheets etc will be necessary. Finally, the person we want will have a strong continuous improvement mindset and strong safety leadership behavior.
In addition to providing professional referees, preferred candidates will be required to undertake a pre-employment medical. Of course, in return, we will recognize your capabilities and skills by negotiating a competitive salary package.
