The Executive Officer to the CEO is responsible for providing high level business support to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The Executive Officer provides a range of high level executive, secretariat, and project support services to the Executive team including providing strategic and policy advice, managing communications and implementing strategies to support the achievement of the organisations strategic and operational objectives.
The successful applicant will have extensive experience working in a similar role and excellent computer literacy, time and project management, organisational and a thorough understanding of the Aboriginal political and historical impacts upon policy development in the NT and nationally in relation to Aboriginal land rights, and Aboriginal land use.
Applicants require strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to interact effectively with Aboriginal people and a broad range of stakeholders. A commitment to high personal work standards and the delivery of client focused services is essential, as is the ability to use sound judgement and maintain a high level of confidentiality.
Demonstrated knowledge of Aboriginal culture and society and the issues affecting Aboriginal people in the Northern Territory, and a working knowledge and understanding of the functions of the NLC.
Willingness to travel to remote areas is required so possession of a C Class drivers licence and the ability to drive 4WD vehicles safely and to travel by air.
