Bookkeeper/Administration Support

Position

  • Permanent full time or part time position
  • Work hours and remuneration flexible/negotiable depending on skill set and hours available
  • FTE of $65,000 per annum plus super

 

About the Centre

Fawkner Park Childrens Centre and Kindergarten is located in South Yarra, 150m from St Kilda Road trams and 1km from South Yarra station.  The Centre is a not-for-profit cooperative that is licensed for 74 children and offers excellence in care and early childhood education. 

 

About the Role

The Centre is inviting applications from motivated and enthusiastic applicants for a Bookkeeper/Administration support role.

The role involves the following, and responsibilities are flexible depending on the applicants skill set:

  • Internal and external facing
  • Answering incoming calls and assisting with electronic/digital communications
  • BAS preparation and monthly reporting to ATO
  • Maintaining parents accounts updating both manual and electronic filing system for staff, families and prospective families
  • Managing Child Care Subsidy (CCS) system through third party software and liaising with families
  • Liaising with Federal Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) and Victorian Department of Education and Training (DET)
  • Maintaining accurate data in the Victorian Kindergarten Information Management System (KIM)
  • Collecting and submitting attendances to the government through online system
  • Preparing and maintaining employee remuneration and entitlements and supporting external payroll
  • Reconciling monthly and end of financial year accounts and data, and creating monthly report and budget for Centre Director and Treasurer
  • Preparing information for annual external audit
  • Creating and managing new enrolments and current enrolment changes in third party software
  • Managing accounts receivable and payable, deposits and cheques for paid fees, cooperative membership fees and waiting list fees

 

Key Skills

Applicants will ideally have the following key skills:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • MYOB or Xero accounting software knowledge
  • Sound MS Office skills
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment

 

Typical Experience

  • Accounting experience and/or TAFE qualifications
  • At least 3 years experience in an administrative and/or bookkeeper support role

 

Checks

Valid Working with Children Check, Current National Criminal history records check (Police Check).

You will also need to attend online training for Early Childhood Protecting Children - mandatory reporting and child protection for early childhood sector.
