Provide expert advice and represent Ports North on emerging policy issues, Contribute to Port masterplan initiatives, Drive best practice in environment and sustainability.
Far North Queensland Ports Corporation Limited, trading as Ports North, is a company Queensland Government Owned Corporation responsible for managing the port infrastructure and operations at the trading Ports of Cairns, Cape Flattery, Karumba, Mourilyan, Skardon River and community Ports of Quintell Beach and Thursday Island.
As a successful, sustainable port operator Ports North plays a lead role in driving economic development in the region by providing and facilitating vital infrastructure including wharves, jetties and marina facilities, navigation channels, buildings and public facilities.

The Manager Environment, Sustainability & External Policy is accountable for implementing the Environmental Management System and the Sustainability Program to ensure Ports North complies with legislation; minimises environmental risks, and operates in an ecologically sustainable manner. Reporting to the General Manager Planning & Infrastructure, specific responsibilities include:
Oversee the Environment Management Program.
Manage the delivery of the long-term Maintenance Dredge Management plans.
Obtain environmental approvals for key maintenance and capital projects.
Lead environmental legal compliance processes.
Evaluate environmental risks and recommend compliant risk management strategies.
Lead and drive sustainability and environment planning.
Collaborate with external stakeholders including key customers, government, and industry partners.
Provide insights on industry standards, best practices and regulatory trends and champion sustainable initiatives that support financial and operational success.
Input high level advice on emerging policy issues and the impact on Ports Norths sustainability and priorities.
Contribute to the delivery of major planning projects including port masterplan initiatives.
Present and advocate for the position of Ports North in industry, stakeholder and community forums.
Actively contribute to Queensland Ports Association environmental initiatives ensuring Ports Norths objectives are met.
Promote a safety-focussed and environmentally-conscious culture.
Implement Ports Norths Risk Management Framework.
This role will appeal to exceptional environmental leaders with substantial and successful port experience. Relevant tertiary qualifications are essential.
