About the role


We are seeking to appoint a Receptionist/Bookkeeper on a full-time basis. Experience within the construction industry is essential. This position reports directly to the Financial Controller and would suit someone that can hit the ground running. Office is in Brooklyn, West of Melbourne, own form of transport is essential.


Main Duties Include but not limited to:

  • Daily allocation of bank transactions, invoices, and receipts
  • Weekly bank statement reconciliations
  • Weekly payroll processing
  • Processing annual leave and other staff leave
  • Liaising with external accountants and assisting with Tax compliance (BAS, payroll, Taxable Payment Annual Report, etc)
  • Maintaining systems using Smartsheets, and Xero software
  • Reception functions and general admin and data entry
  • Maintain office and kitchen supplies and cleanliness
  • Organise and prepare meeting room as needed
  • Meeting and greeting clients

Skills and experience


  • Tertiary Qualification in Bookkeeping/Accounting is essential
  • At least 2 years' experience in reception and customer service roles
  • At least 2 years' experience in booking/accounting roles
  • Confident and effective communicator with a good grasp of the English language
  • Comfortable working in a blue-collar environment
  • Exceptional customer services skills to be delivered in a friendly, polite, and professional manner
  • Knowledge of accounts receivable, general accounting and bookkeeping
  • Proven computer skills with good working knowledge of MS Office (Word & Excel)
  • Experience with accounting software (especially Xero) is an advantage
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work under pressure
  • Ability to work well within a team, whilst also able to work autonomously, unsupervised
