Our dynamic Properties, Facilities and Development (PF&D) department is responsible for the planning and management that provides a vibrant and beneficial environment for study, work and leisure. We look after the programs and facilities that Curtin has in place and ones that are planned for the future.
We have an exciting opportunity for an outstanding technical leader to join our mechanical maintenance team, and play a key role cementing Curtin’s profile as a “Green Star Community”.
In this role you will:
Manage, plan and schedule the timely delivery of mechanical maintenance services.
Lead a team of technical staff members, conducting work planning and performance review discussions.
Coordinate the preventative and reactive maintenance program to meet key performance indicators.
Manage and provide technical guidance and support to contractors and staff.
Measure customer satisfaction and implement corrective actions.
Liaise with other Service Managers to ensure activities are integrated.
Manage the equipment inventory and data in the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Manage contracts – select contractors, ensure compliance with statutory requirements and legislation, evaluate performance, manage budgets, approve progress, and approve payments.
Manage the preparation and review of management reports.

We are looking for someone with:
Extensive experience, management and specialist technical expertise in mechanical, refrigeration, HVAC and BMS services in a maintenance and operations environment.
Completion of Tertiary/Advanced/Post Trade Certificate or equivalent with extensive relevant experience.
Possession of a restricted electrical license.
Considerable experience in leading and supervising technical staff and contractors, ensuring a strong customer focus with significant emphasis on efficiency, value for money, and high performance, together with a proven ability to deal with and solve problems, and provide appropriate and timely guidance and training.
Ability to apply project and contract management knowledge, experience and skills to manage all aspects of relevant contracts, together with ability to formulate management reports and documents that clearly and effectively address complex issues and enable management to consider prudent financial decisions.
Demonstrated experience in the planning, commissioning & handover, delivery, monitoring and reporting of corrective, breakdown and emergency maintenance of building fabric equipment, together with the ability to develop annual budgets and manage relevant financial information.
Well-developed written and excellent verbal communication, interpersonal and relationship management skills.
Strong experience in applying computing skills including the Microsoft Suite and Computerised Maintenance Management Systems.
Well-developed knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health activities and practical experience in applying safe work procedures and ensuring that staff are provided with adequate training.
Demonstrated resilience, with ability to cope with pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
Australian Refrigeration Council accreditation (desirable).
