Looking for an employee in a part time capacity to process data, provide bookkeeping services, assist a variety of clients and business structures, and act as an administration assistant.


About the business and the role:

Pointons Chartered Accountants and Financial Planners are a small forward thinking accounting and wealth advisory firm located in Gawler.

We offer a fully integrated service across Business Advisory, SMSF, Tax, Accounting, Wealth Management, Financial Planning, Aged Care and Retirement Planning to a substantial portfolio of business and professional clients, and individuals.

Job tasks and responsibilities:


With extensive training, in this role you will:

  • Build strong relationships with current and future client
  • Undertake general administration duties
  • Complete checklists throughout the whole process of each client liaising with stakeholders to gather outstanding documentation
  • Prepare client documents prior to appointments
  • Process and reconcile payroll, superannuation and Pay As You Go Withholding, including year end procedures for payment summaries, Return to WorkSA, Superannuation and Taxable Payments reporting
  • Complete and maintain data entry from client source documents and/or bank feeds
  • Reconcile bank accounts and balance sheet items and prepare reports at the end of each month
  • Prepare Business Activity Statements and Instalment Activity Statements
  • Have an understanding of income tax and GST
  • Prepare electronic working papers
  • Work alongside accountants when necessary
  • Assist on site with public school audits

Skills and Experience:

The ideal candidate will have obtained or be working towards Certificate IV in Financial Services. Experience in bookkeeping will be of an advantage. The candidate should also be:  

  • Courteous, polite and well presented
  • Proficient in the use of MYOB, Xero, Reckon, QuickBooks and Microsoft Office products (including Cloud software), and have been exposed to other bookkeeping software and add-ons
  • Equipped with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Able to build and maintain a mature and professional working relationship with all team members and clients
  • Accurate in the work prepared and have an eye for detail
