Glenelg Golf Club is one of Adelaide's leading private golf clubs with a vision to be one of the premier golf clubs in Australia. Rated within the top 50 Courses nationally, our club has recently been chosen amongst 25 golf clubs in Australia to participate in a one-year trial of a sustainable golf project run by the GEO Foundation.
We are now seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, highly-motivated, professional person in the full-time position of Vegetation Officer. The officer will protect, preserve and enhance the course vegetation and promote the importance of remnant vegetation and biodiversity to our members.
Responsibilities include a range of revegetation, maintenance, development and associated works including:
identification of indigenous plants and weeds
control of weeds using chemical, mechanical and manual methods
assistance with the collection, preparation and storage of indigenous plant seed, as well as growing and caring for nursery stock
assistance in the preparation and planning of revegetation works programs.
To be considered for this position, you will:
have a background in native vegetation management or maintenance
be willing to start early in the morning and work flexible hours, including some weekend work
have a desire learn about golf and have a holistic approach to vegetation and course maintenance
possess a keen eye for high presentation of garden areas
have demonstrated ability to be courteous towards our members and present a positive image of our team
enjoy working outdoors and be deeply passionate about indigenous vegetation.
