Mechanical Engineer

Position: A full-time position for a Mechanical Engineer.

Qualification:Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering.  Candidate with Masters in Project Management and/or Operations Management will be given first preference. 

Experience:The candidate should have a minimum of 3 years work experience which should include minimum 1 year of Australian work experience as a Mechanical Engineer in the similar field.

Requirement:The candidate should be diligent, independent, self-motivated Mechanical Engineer. The candidate must have good computer literacy covering experience with Auto-cad, MS-Office, MS- Project and MYOB. The candidate should understand basic Quality Control, Quality Assurance practices. The candidate should have a good understanding of steel sections, steel processing and steel fabrication processes. Materials selection, preparation, and presentation of construction-related drawings. Multi-lingual will be an advantage to deal with overseas business activities. The right candidate will be hard working, organized, team player and creative with excellent communication skills and an ability to influence across all levels of the organisation to achieve optimal business outcomes. He or she will be required to work in a high-pressure environment. Position might require overseas travel.

The candidate needs to have full working rights. Australian Citizens and permanent residents preferred

Specific duties and responsibilities 

  1. Developing specifications for manufacture, and determining materials, for manufacturing of steel works;
  2. Designing mechanical equipment, machines or machine components and the layout of processes, for manufacture of steel works including steel beam, channel, sections, rounds & tubes, flats, plates and sheet steel;
  3. Assessing optimal deployment of workforce, and based on operational data and production schedules to determine worker and equipment efficiencies;
  4. Document control for projects, project variations, and tenders;
  5. Liaising and negotiating with suppliers, customers and other stakeholders;
  6. Understand architectural and mechanical drawings and coordinate with clients, subcontractors and team for assembly erection, commissioning, operation and maintenance of mechanical processes and plant installations;
  7. Ensuring that all critical operations are maintained and working efficiently without issues occurring and assist in the preventative and calibration maintenance of these critical operations accordingly;
  8. Instituting standards for installation, quality control, testing, inspection and maintenance according to the engineering code and safety regulations;
  9. Planning/Scheduling various jobs/projects on a daily/weekly basis;
  10. Ability to work Hands On with the Metal and Processing machines/ in the workshop;
  11. Management of project scope, resources, time, cost, quality, communications, risk, procurement and integration to achieve client and project objectives; and
  12. Inventory and Risk Management.
