Your new position
We have newly created leadership opportunity to join our Sustaining Capital team in the role of Principal Sustaining Capital Planning.
You will lead a team of planning specialists in the detailed investment planning of sustaining capital projects. Working closely with our Asset Strategy & Planning team, you will manage needs assessments through our gate process to develop mature business cases ready for implementation. You will be responsible for achieving the strategies, policies and specifications in the 30 year Integrated Master Plan and the Asset Management Lifecycle plans.
This is an exciting opportunity exposing you to a broad range of projects impacting all of our operations. It will require a high level of commercial acumen and the ability to apply divergent thinking to identify efficiencies whilst delivering quality outcomes.
Lead a team of planning specialists in the detailed planning of asset augmentations to achieve water supply strategies, policies and legislative obligations over the short to mid-term.
Ensure that planning:
seeks to achieve the standards and obligations as efficiently as possible, by maximising asset utilisation, optimising capital investment and managing risk
is integrated across catchment and built assets and asset renewal and augmentation
is consistent with the asset management framework, with options robustly assessed and recommendations clear.
Liaise with the Asset Strategy & Planning team to ensure that planning is integrated across built and natural assets.
Support program delivery activities, including resolution of any scoping issues and by early consideration of procurement options as part of planning activities.

Manage the financial and accountability aspects of the team through the development and monitoring of budgets and expenditure control systems.

To be successful in this role you will be tertiary qualified with significant professional experience in project planning. You will have a working knowledge of integrated asset planning, including asset management principles and practices across both natural and built assets.
In addition, you will demonstrate:
Significant experience in scoping and prioritising asset investments, substantiated by appropriate detailed planning and prioritisation outputs.
Substantial industry and regulatory experience in understanding, interpreting and applying the principles of quality management to asset planning.
Proven ability to deliver services, and effectively manage planning projects, utilising external professionals, contractors, consultants and partnership arrangements.
Substantial knowledge of project management principles, contracting, quality assurance, environmental management and workplace health and safety management.
Strong results orientation and a proven track record of delivering projects and planning outcomes on time, on budget and to required quality standards.
