We are currently looking for engineers to develop new methods for extracting motion information from medical images. Youll join our Research Team and use custom built software to design and evaluate novel concepts. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing multi-disciplinary team of experienced researchers, engineers and image analysis specialists.
We are a medical technology start-up that focuses on providing functional lung data to physicians. We utilise cutting-edge algorithms from mechanical engineering, image processing and mathematics to build proprietary Software as a Service (SaaS) based products that deliver new insights into lung function and patient health.
What can you expect as a research engineer at 4DMedical
As a research engineer you will work in our tight-knit Research Team to investigate, experiment and evaluate new image processing techniques. Our research engineers work relatively autonomously (depending on experience), with our Director of Research providing guidance and mentorship to each member of the team. Ultimately, you will be responsible for designing the underlying methods used in our novel lung motion analysis software, which are turned into commercial software products by our Software Team.
As a start-up company our agility is a key strength, so your work will be varied and may change quickly. While your ability to work independently is important, we more strongly value your ability to share your knowledge with the rest of the team, thereby ensuring an environment in which all team members grow and develop together.
Who are you
Youll embrace our goal of providing better health outcomes to patients. Youre someone who enjoys learning new technologies and developing new skills. We expect that youre a graduate or have 1-2 years of experience (industry, masters, etc.) in digital image processing and image analysis, and that youll be competent in basic scripting/coding (e.g. in python or MATLAB).
Youll have a degree in engineering or science (e.g. a mechatronics or mechanical engineer, computer scientist, etc.), and youll feel comfortable analysing complex data. If you have experience in image segmentation, registration, reconstruction techniques and X-ray imaging thats great, and if not, we are happy to bring you up to speed.

Candidates need to be able to start by September. Interstate applicants will be considered, however you will need to be willing to relocate to Melbourne when circumstances allow.
