The Opportunity

Due to a vacancy, we are currently seeking an enthusiastic Assistant Rates Officer (4 or 5 days per week to be negotiated ) to join our Shire Council.  This position has potential to be either a permanent full time or PART TIME position, working, on average 32 40 hours per week (dependant on agreement reached).

We look to work with others are who are committed to excellence in customer service person and over the phone.  You will be on the front line of a dynamic Shire Council in a multi-faceted role, which supports our senior Rates advisors, whilst directly reporting to the Office Manager.

The role has an anticipated commencement date of early to mid August 2020.

The Successful Candidate Requirements

  • Previous experience in Local Government Finance and Rates procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and provide customer service within the Rates, Finance or other Department of a Local Authority.
  • High level of IT skills in the use of SynergySoft or related software.
  • Developed knowledge of reporting requirements within Local Government.
  • A demonstrated high level of accuracy and numeracy with the ability to input and review data efficiently and effectively whilst managing competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality customer service and continuous improvement outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability and experience in record management requirements in line with relevant legislation and regulations.
  • The ability to maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.

Salary Guide

  • The position is classified as a Level 8, Step 3 under the Local Government Interim (2011) Award Agreement.
