PRIVACY SPECIALIST

We are a small yet growing company looking for experienced and self-motivated privacy practitioners to join us in a privacy consulting role.  This flexible role presents an opportunity for a passionate privacy specialist to work with clients across Australia on a variety of privacy-related projects.

Salinger Privacy was established in 2004 by one of Australias foremost privacy experts. Working with Salinger Privacy means working at the intersection of law, technology and ethics, influencing outcomes across a range of sectors, from shaping government policy development to assisting organisations from tech start-ups to ASX100 companies with their privacy management programs. In addition to privacy consulting services, Salinger Privacy offers a range of privacy resources and training.  Our team members all work from home. Our clients are predominantly based in Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra.

 

Your duties will include:

  • Conducting Privacy Impact Assessments and privacy audits for our clients, including testing the maturity or effectiveness of their privacy management programs.
  • Providing advice about interpreting and applying privacy law, and/or meeting community expectations.
  • Developing privacy-related resources, reports, training and presentation content.
  • Undertaking legal or other research to support the consulting, training or publications work of the firm.
  • Investigating privacy complaints on behalf of clients.

 

This role is for you if you have:

  • Extensive experience working as a privacy consultant or in-house privacy officer.
  • Extensive experience conducting Privacy Impact Assessments and/or privacy audits for internal or external clients.
  • Experience in applying knowledge of privacy laws and current privacy topics in Australia and internationally.
  • Legal qualifications, or extensive experience interpreting and offering advice on legislation.
  • A passion for achieving the practical protection of the privacy of individuals in business or government contexts.
  • Enthusiasm to continually learn about new technologies and emerging privacy-related issues.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, project management skills, with the ability to relate positively to a range of audiences, and travel as required.
  • The organisational / time management skills, self-direction and personality needed to thrive working independently in a work-from-home environment.
