This position is Full-Time (or Part-time)
The role is viewed as being full-time; however, so long as the candidate could travel for work and be on-call, part time employment is also possible if so desired.
The duties and responsibilities will vary according to the current needs of the organisation, however the main fields that the position holder will be involved in are:
Chemical Engineering / Science work related to the water, wastewater, chemical and mineral processing sector clients.
The focus of the role is applied engineering and science and while there is a definite technical and office-based requirement, the successful candidate would need to be comfortable working outside their discipline performing manual, practical based tasks in the field.
This position is focused towards water treatment, however projects at the time may involve work consulting to other industries.
This is a technical role that involves considerable field work.
It is essential that the applicant has a high work ethic.
It is essential to be willing to travel and must be willing and able to work flexibly.
The expected field versus office-based work is to be roughly proportions as 60 / 40, however, depending on work and projects being conducted the split may vary from this expectation.
Travel relating to work: there is a requirement for one weeks travel per month (Monday to Friday, including travel) to locations like: Gold Coast, Nebo (North Western Queensland), and Travel to other localities within Queensland.
Roll will be heavy in practical field work (60% of role):
Operational and maintenance works of sewage, wastewater and drinking water treatment plants.
Environmental testing and sampling.
Cleaning and storing of process and analytical equipment.
Project installation of treatment plants.
Roll involves technical work (40% of role):
Reviewing and development of Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams.
Pump and irrigation calculations.
Develop drawings on AutoCAD / Auto Sketch system.
Developing technical reports.
Development of equipment and plant manuals.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Essential (must have)
A degree in either Engineering or Science relating to water, wastewater, chemical and mineral processing
Experience in sampling and analysis of water
Report writing skills at a University Graduate Level
Applicant would need to be physical capable of tasks such as:
Pulling pumps from in-ground tanks.
Transporting 25 kg chemical drums and bags and batching chemical dosing tanks.
Perform some PVC piping repairs and modifications.
Installing pipework and fittings on treatment systems.
Change out of pumps and equipment.
Membrane filter cleaning.
Flexible and willing to undertake what is reasonable to complete the job properly.
Practically minded generally handy, can resolve simple practical hardware issues, and happy to get your hands dirty.

The successful applicant, once employed, must reside in Gladstone district.
Must hold a current C-class drivers license (Open).
Must be available for call-out for a weekend per month.
Have a strong work ethic: ability to structure your own work; manage time; and work with minimal supervision once you learn the role.
Preferred (nice to have)
Experience in the area of wastewater / water treatment.
Experience with pumping systems.
Experience in treatment plant operation and maintenance.
Remuneration will be market value dependent upon the successful applicants experience.
