Industrial Designer / Mechanical Engineer

We are seeking a proficient Industrial Designer / Engineer to join our team.

We are looking for someone who takes ownership and pride of seeing concepts evolve through to production, enjoys getting hands-on with prototyping and values the importance of idea sharing and cohesive teamwork. With a wide range of products to work on, this is an opportunity to expand your capabilities and work with different markets and their specific requirements.

Qualifications & Experience required

  • Tertiary qualifications of an Engineering / Industrial / Product / Maritime design nature and preferably over 3 years professional experience.
  • Experience in Design for Manufacturability (DFM), and Design for Assembly (DFA) 
  • Experience working with local and overseas manufacturers 
  • Substantial experience with SolidWorks and Adobe Creative Suite; rendering program experience (such as Maxwell Studio) an advantage.
  • High level of attention to detail, initiative and strong work ethic.
  • Excellent English skills to produce written documents and detailed designs through mechanical and production drawings 
  • Self-starter able to work on their own or as part of a team to achieve challenging deadlines
  •  Experience in sheet metal industry highly desirable



Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Develop, innovate and streamline our product platforms from initial concept to a lean manufacturable product/s.  
  • Work within a fast-paced environment, adapt to evolving designs and production challenges. 
  • Take full ownership of complex mechanical systems including the design, fabrication, and market delivery schedule.  
  • Drive design and promote processes that support the company's goals. 
  • Take initial design concepts through internal rapid prototyping though to the creation of production tooling. 
  • Push product prototypes though the approval phase to a market ready product.  
  • Operate with a high level of autonomy whilst interacting effectively with all team members including areas of the business such as marketing and manufacturing, to ensure the products being developed are appropriate and satisfy all necessary requirements.
  • Engaging in design and development of a diverse array of Industrial hardware products, numerous seating solutions for the maritime, road and rail markets, as well as client driven custom components;
  • Preparing files and drawings for manufacturing, assembly and certification purposes, including for client use in their CAD software;
  • Creating seat layout configurations to fit the clients requirements and vessel floor space;
  • Producing design proposals and 3D renderings for marketing and manufacturing purposes;
  • Participating in day-to-day problem solving, working with our Australian and international manufacturing facilities.
