St Ives Retirement Living is a leading provider of quality retirement villages and general real estate in Western Australia with 8 villages across the state. St Ives Northshore (in Kallaroo) is a 143-unit established village in one of Perths best coastal locations.
We currently have an opportunity for an experienced and versatile Maintenance Assistant and Gardener to join the team for a 12 month contract (full time). Reporting to the Village Manager, this role is responsible for a diverse range of duties.
The perfect candidate will bring a work history demonstrating gardening and general maintenance skills, and possess a friendly can-do attitude and enjoy working in a team environment.
What you will have responsibility for:
This role will be responsible for the following, as well as other general duties as required:
Ground and garden works including general gardening, lawn management, planting and soil maintenance;
General property maintenance, including paving, walls, fencing and other handy-person tasks;
Reticulation management including installation, maintenance, repair and programming; and
Ensuring bore pumps and filters work effectively.
What we are looking for in our ideal candidate
Demonstrated experience in gardening, general property maintenance, reticulation maintenance and other ad-hoc handy-person tasks;
Working knowledge of relevant tools and equipment including trimmers, trimmers, mowers, edgers, power tools (petrol and electric) and manual tools;
Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to relate to elderly residents previous experience in a similar role within a retirement village or aged care environment is desirable, but not essential;
Proven ability to work to timelines and schedules, within a safety first culture;
Ability to build relationships and work as part of a team;
A positive attitude and a demonstrated passion for work, with the ability to finish work and takes pride in completing work showing accountability by doing what they say they will do;
Ability to use initiative to get things done in consultation with the team;
Committed to continuous improvement;
Computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office; and
Drivers Licence and National Police Certificate (First Aid Certificate desirable).
