Golf Course Superintendent

Located three hours west of Melbourne at the end of the Great Ocean Road, Warrnambool Golf Course is one of the regions most spectacular 18-hole courses. Winding its way behind a tertiary dune system, this classically designed course features a number of spectacular elevated tees, tea tree lined fairways and a number of tight driving holes. Course development, in consultation with world renowned golf architects Perrett Thompson, has the course rated as one of the top 100 public access courses in Australia.

The Club is seeking a motivated Golf Course Superintendent to drive and manage the overall planning, development, management & maintenance program of its course, surrounding gardens and grounds.

Reporting directly to the Club Manager, the key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Helping to promote player satisfaction through maintaining a quality golf course and maintenance program
  • Management responsibility for all grounds and maintenance staff and operating budgets
  • Identifying the strategies and actions required to meet the course development objectives outlined in the club's Strategic Plan.
  • Working with key staff members to constantly improve the golf course, club grounds, maintenance facility and all safety programs
  • Thoroughly assisting in all safety training needs and procedures
  • Continually developing your knowledge of best-practice golf course management practices and techniques.

To be successful in this position, you will be a self motivated leader, who is highly driven to successfully manage a challenging signature course for the enjoyment of our diverse membership. You will possess a positive and proactive approach to planning and problem solving, as well as demonstrated experience in staff and budget management.

Required skills/qualifications:

  • Relevant golf course, turf maintenance or horticultural trade or equivalent qualifications.
  • Accreditation in Chemical Applications & Safe Handling
  • Demonstrated knowledge of WHS Legislative Requirements
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with computerised irrigation systems
  • Strong financial and budgeting skills

The Club pays according to the Registered & Licensed Clubs Award 2010 and a remuneration package will be negotiated with the successful applicant.
