General Manager- North Stradbroke Island Aboriginal & Islanders Housing Co-Op Society

We are looking for a suitably experienced General Manager to oversee the management of Community Housing, Residential Aged Care Facility, Community and Home Care Services and Caravan Park on North Stradbroke Island(Minjerribah).
This is a unique opportunity to be part of a not - for -profit organisation who is delivering housing  and aged care services and Community & Home Care Support Services to the North Stradbroke Island community.
North Stradbroke Island Aboriginal and Islander Housing Co-op is a holistic service provider focused on improving the lives of Aboriginal people in our community. North Stradbroke Island is accessible by a 25 minute water taxi ride from Cleveland.

The Manager we are looking for will have:


  • Demonstrated Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander societies and cultures and the issues
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Aged Care & Community & Home care Support Services, including legislation, regulations & accreditation standards
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Social Housing including Tenancy matters, repairs and maintenance and capital works
  •  Experience with the development of  strategy, with an ability to develop policies & procedures, and be focused on continuous improvement
  • An ability to lead and motivate staff
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and in particular, an ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal people
  • An ability to manage day to day operations of the organisation including human resources, finance (including budgets) and asset

The General Manager will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring the long term viability of the organisation and its programs
  • Managing the day to day operations of the organisation
  • Initiating grant funding applications and ensuring timely acquittals of grant funds
  • Providing strategic advice to the Managers of the Aged Care facility ,Community and Home Care Services and Caravan Park
  • Preparing plans, budgets and regular reports to the Board of Directors

A salary package will be negotiated dependent on your skills, experience and suitability for the role.
