Lead Electrical Engineer

Company Brief:

Huglo is a start-up business looking to make an impact in the retail electricity industry. We are looking to build a community driven platform to empower our members by providing top-quality, easily accessible information to help our members make the most informed choice both in their retail plan and installation of solar systems.

We see a future that is very different from today. There will be virtual power plants, community batteries and technology improvements for us all to benefit from. However, we need an independent advocate to maximise our individual investments by taking a holistic approach.


The Lead Engineer ensures that the designs for residential homeowners meets all regulatory requirements of the Clean Energy Council. They will then provide all system performance estimates and provide an accurate panel design with the use of a variety of online software. They will also be responsible for ensuring that the meter switch board will be up to date abiding to current AS/NA rules and notify the project manager handling the customer of any changes or extra works are required. Once the project has been installed, it is up to the engineer to go through an internal QA process to commission the system meets both Huglo and all relevant industry body standards. The engineer will also be required to provide both onsite or remote support to our installer network whilst installing the system or if any faults appear post-installation.


  • Assist management in setting up an efficient customer journey process;
  • Design solar systems for our customers in readiness to provide a quote;
  • Updating project managers about any changes in design, including extra costs;
  • Constantly checking with the Project Management Team to have customer design review approved;
  • Informing and helping installers with installation commissioning and fault finding;
  • Ensuring all due diligence has been taken into considerations before moving customers projects through the pipeline;
  • Ability to handle customer objections and questions in a professional and friendly way;
  • QA process after the installation has occurred;
  • Ability to work without supervision and deliver results;
  • Flexible to change; ability to adapt to changing priorities;
  • Post-installation fault finding and resolving any issues by liaising with the installers and customers;
  • Provide technical feedback to the sales team;
  • Ability to take initiative to solve problems and find creative solutions to resolve issues and maintain project velocity. 


  • Background of Engineering;
  • CEC qualified Solar Designer;
  • At least two years of relevant experience in delivering residential or commercial solar installations;
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines and organise your time effectively 
  • Clear and effective communication skills. Both installer facing and internal communication
  • Desire to be part of a company addressing climate change by providing customers with solar energy
