Capricorn Metals Ltd is a rapidly growing ASX-listed gold mining and exploration company, which is well advanced in the development of a new, large West Australian open pit mining project. The Karlawinda Gold Project in the Pilbara region of Western Australia is expected to commence commissioning in the March 2021 quarter, producing between 105,000 120,000 ounces per annum over a 12-year mine life.
The Company is excited by the growth potential of the project area and holds a significant land position of over 2,000km2. A number of exciting exploration targets have been identified across the prospective greenstone belts and will be tested in the immediate future.
We are looking for a Senior Exploration Geologist to join our growing team. Reporting to the Exploration Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the identification and generation of viable drilling prospects resulting in the discovery of new resources and reserves. The role is an even split between Perth and site based.
Duties will include:
Add shareholder value through the discovery of exploitable gold mineral deposits in the companys tenement area.
Manage exploration and assist with resource estimation over advanced gold and other projects by working closely with the companys resource geologists and mine development consultants.
Preparation and management of exploration programs, including but not limited to geophysical surveys, geological field mapping, surface geochemistry, aircore drilling, RC drilling and diamond drilling. Targets range from greenfields to resource definition.
Maintain contact with the exploration activities in the region that will allow the company to be aware of suitable new mineral exploration or development joint venture opportunities.
Review historical geological, geochemical and geophysical data over prospective stratigraphy throughout the district and develop mineral exploration models and strategies.
Supervision of exploration staff and contractors
Varied project work including field mapping, rig supervision, chip and core logging
Tenement maintenance and statutory reporting
Management of budgets and expenditure
Involvement in heritage surveys and water exploration
Presentations to management and board where necessary
A minimum of eight (8) years working in an exploration geology role
A degree in Geology (BSc or higher)
Previous experience in Archaean gold exploration is essential
Experienced in the use of Micromine, ArcGIS and ioGAS
Passion for field geology and technical learning
Relevant Professional Association Membership (AIG or AUSIMM).
Current WA class C manual drivers licence
Some mine geology exposure would be desirable
The successful applicant will need to complete a pre-employment medical and provide a current national police clearance certificate.
