WA Data Science Hub

The WA Data Science Innovation Hub has been established to enable the application of data science for the benefit of all West Australians. It is jointly funded by the Government of Western Australia's New Industries Fund and Curtin University.

The Hub enables Western Australia to build a data driven ecosystem and culture by fostering collaboration, promoting expertise, advocating and enabling data literacy across the community, industry, academia and government for all Western Australians.

Your new role

We have an outstanding opportunity for a Programs Manager, with innovation and design thinking experience, to join the team and lead the coordination and implementation of programs of work within the Hub.  The role is part time which offers flexible working hours and will be located between Curtin’s Bentley campus and CBD offices.

In this role you will:

  • Liaise with internal and external partners to identify project opportunities, objectives and outcomes.
  • Facilitate workshops between industry and academia, using a design led approach to identify areas of opportunities for data science projects
  • Facilitate networking events and workshops to build collaborative relationships, and connect start-ups and SMEs with university and government capability.
  • Manage a new work integrated learning and internship program across all WA Universities, finding meaningful placements for Data Science students and graduates in local industry.
  • Identify program impacts and risks, manage resources, oversee the implementation of program deliverables, and post-implementation reviews.
  • Work closely with the Director to manage key initiatives of the Hub.

We are looking for someone with:

  • Postgraduate qualifications (or progress towards) and extensive relevant experience; or extensive relevant project management experience and expertise.
  • Experience facilitating workshops, training and networking events for a diverse audience.
  • High-level project management skills.
  • Design thinking approach to solving problems and drive innovation.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent written communication skills with the ability to construct clear and concise project reports.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines with a strong attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with a cross functional team, including the capacity to supervise and manage other staff.
  • Excellent critical analysis skills with the ability to exercise sound judgment in decision-making.
