Engineering Manager

Job Description

The Engineering Manager holds responsibilities for CAR30 Maintenance Organisation approvals and will work closely with our Airworthiness and Operations Departments to ensure the safe operational availability of the fleet. 

The Engineering Manager position is a role that suits a proactive, motivated individual with extensive aviation experience working within an airline support environment in a senior Maintenance, Airworthiness or Maintenance Planning role.  You will be responsible for the performance of the Engineering Team within our aviation business.

The role requires the management, planning, communication and delivery of maintenance support services for all of our operations.

Key Responsibilities

Your key responsibilities in this role will include:

  • Managing the company and contractor engineering maintenance operations and ensuring adequate manpower and licence coverage is available to carry out scheduled and unscheduled maintenance
  • Advising the leadership team of any issues or changes that affect maintenance operations including resource and other requirements to ensure adequate maintenance standards are maintained. 
  • Observation of budgetary requirements where applicable, relating to engineering maintenance expenditure
  • Liaising closely with Operations to achieve schedule and availability outcomes
  • Managing the hazard identification and risk management processes applicable to the Maintenance Organisation
  • Managing the ongoing development of training for Engineering staff
  • Promoting a Safety and Customer Focused Culture throughout our aviation operations

Desired Skills and Experience

Essential:

The successful applicant will have demonstrated knowledge and skills in the following areas:

  • Experience and qualifications applicable to Aircraft Maintenance Management
  • Extensive experience working in aviation with an emphasis on effective communication and working with diverse teams
  • Conversant with Safety Management Systems use and philosophy
  • Conversant with Quality Management Systems use and philosophy
  • Working knowledge of the CASA regulatory suite and requirements
  • Working knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety legislation
  • Working knowledge of risk management principles to applicable standards (ISO 31000:2018)
  • Ability to engage managers, employees and external parties to achieve safe outcomes balanced with delivering customer and commercial expectations
  • Ability to effectively communicate and represent the company to external parties and customers on all engineering matters
  • Extensive experience in developing and implementing effective systems meeting company policies and objectives
  • A high level of competence in technical writing and the use of Microsoft Office suite programs
