King's Own Institute (KOI) is an accredited higher education provider delivering undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Accounting, Management and Finance, Information Technology and TESOL at its three locations in Sydney's central CBD.  

We are currently recruiting for 2  experienced accountants. This role sits in the finance and accounts team which is a strong, collaborative group of people preparing month end journals and reconciliations relating to revenue, receivables and deferred income. This role also involves analysis, budgeting, forecasting and reporting with exposure to management. You will also partner with the business and present insights and trends to the Higher Education Industry.

The Responsibilities will include but not limited to

  • Prepare financial statements (Profit and Loss Statement and Balance Sheet) for presentation to boards of directors and management.

  • Key month end financial reporting tasks will include general ledger maintenance in MYOB, balance sheet reconciliations and analytical review for actual vs. forecast.

  • Play a key role in monthly, quarterly and annual close process for student fees in the KOI student information management system for the calculation of revenue amount in P&L.

  • Managing cash flow, including pre-paid students tuition fee transactions (trust account), providing financial analysis and forecasting modelling and presenting key insights to senior management.

  • In charge of agents commission calculation and payment process via KOI in-house student management system and MYOB.

  • Participation in the project budgeting and forecasting assisting in formulating budgetary and accounting policies.

  • Examining operating costs and organisations expenditure.

  • Preparing Student, Academic Staff Data, and Financial information package for annual submission to TEQSA (Tertiary Education Quality and Standard Agency)

  • Preparing Statistical Information, Fee Help Advance Payments estimate, and Financial Information package for submission to the Department of Education and Training;

  • Supporting auditors for reviewing half year report and auditing annual financial reports

  • Conduct internal audit and prepare reports to support relevant queries and findings from external auditors.

  • Conduct financial investigations relating to suspicious transactions and documents so as to avoid risks.

  • Preparing monthly financial statements and management reports for a corporation which is a Hong Kong listed company.

  • Preparing ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) reporting for a corporation based on Hong Kong listing rule.

  • Prepare Business Activity Statement (BAS) and Company Income Tax Return.

  • Providing financial and taxation advice on business plan and operations.

    The Successful Applicant

    To be considered for this role you will have:

  • Minimum 2+ years of accounting & finance experience as an accountant in the Higher Education Industry

  • Bachelor or Master Degree in Accounting

  • A motivated, hardworking disposition

  • Strong background knowledge in Higher Education Industry

  • Ability to work autonomously, with strong communication and problem solving skills
