CNC Machinist / Programmer

Established in 1987, our client is a small, successful manufacturing organization based in the mid-Northern suburbs producing and distributing small-volume, high-precision parts.  

We are looking for an experienced CNC Machinist/Programmer.

You will be operating and scheduling a range and Machining centres and also, provide backup for CNC lathes and other equipment within a small team in a low volume production environment.

General machining related activities for parts finishing and good eye for detail, tight tolerances and quality of small parts mostly around 300g to 750g.

Role requirements 

  • Operate and program Mazak 120 tool change and Fanuc controlled Horizontal and Vertical Machining Centres
  • Scheduling of jobs on tombstones
  • Use of Mazatrol and GCode is essential
  • Setup Mazak lathes (as backup only) with parts loading robots
  • Use of some CADCAM, some jig and fixture machining and design
  • Use laptops for file transfer and machine parameters
  • CADCAM and 3D Modelling experience preferred for new product development
  • PLC cut off saw operation
  • Use of overhead crane
  • Forklift Driving
  • Quality inspections
  • Housekeeping
  • Metrology-use of optical comparator, measuring microscope, 3D microscope etc
  • Finishing
  • Team-player
  • Small low pressure Die Cavity making experience would be a plus but not essential, use of Laser 3D engraver

 Other requirements 

  • Trustworthy
  • Precision machining experience
  • Australian Citizenship or Australian Residency
  • Previous experience on Mazak machines
  • Experience in a factory environment
  • Able to work effectively autonomously or in a close knit team 
  • Available for Day shifts
  • Good attention to detail
  • Physically fit
