Phillips Earthmoving specialises in civil road construction and maintenance servicing the Greater Barkly Region in the Northern Territory. The Role:

Phillips Earthmoving have current requirements for an experienced Heavy Diesel Mechanic / Fitters who are interested in living in Tennant Creek, Northern Territory.  This is a 12 month contract,  full time Monday to Friday position (6am 6pm) with weekend work when required. Reporting to the Workshop Manager, the role is based in our fully equipped workshop with some off-site work as required.  Great benefits include an attractive remuneration package and superannuation.


Job tasks and responsibilities



  • Responsible for servicing, preventative maintenance and major repairs of heavy earthmoving equipment.
  • Rebuilding diesel engines including but not limited to Caterpillar, Detroit and Volvo.
  • Rebuilding dozers including track systems, excavators and loaders.
  • Utilise our maintenance software to document service reports and preventative maintenance schedules.


Skills and experience


To be successful in obtaining this role you must be results driven, with a "can do" attitude and a high standard of work ethic. Successful candidates will be subject to drug & alcohol testing as part of their employment conditions. Applicants will need to meet the following criteria:

  • Australian recognised Heavy Diesel Fitter / Mechanic Trade Certificate
  • Strong technical and problem-solving ability.
  • Experience with American and European drive line trucks.
  • Experience with Hydraulic Side Tippers with BPW axles and quad axle floats.
  • Post trade experience in the Mining or Heavy Earthmoving industry.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • HR or MR licence.
  • Ability to work autonomously.
  • Current national police clearance


  • A Multi-Combination (MC) license.
  • Basic welding.
  • Auto electrician and auto air-conditioning experience.
