HSE Advisor

Full time - 40 hours per week, Commercial construction site - Northern Suburbs, Work alongside a tight knit team with tremendous culture..

We are seeking an experienced HSE Advisor to work on a commercial construction site project located in the northern suburbs.

Reporting to the Senior HSE Advisor, your role will be full time, working a combination of day and afternoon shifts depending on project demands. The project is set down for a March 2021 completion. You will be engaged on a contract basis by the Main Contractor who is conducting work for a large ASX-listed company.

We require someone who is more practical about their safety advice, and understands that a heavy paper-based system is not as important as working alongside the workers, offering common-sense and mature guidance.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Working harmoniously alongside the Project Manager, Site Manager and Contracts Administrators and offering guidance as required.
  • Oversee the project HSE Management Plan - regular reviews and updates.
  • Maintain, review and update the project Risk Assessment on a regular basis.
  • Review and offer practical guidance for subcontractor SWMS reviews.
  • Conduct regular site safety inspections.
  • Maintain the project Emergency Management Response Plan.
  • Assist with supervision of high-risk construction tasks.
  • Incident report submission and investigation.
  • Review subcontractor skills & qualifications.
  • Working with the Procore cloud-based safety management system.

Requirements

  • Cert IV or Diploma OHS (minimum).
  • First Aid certificate.
  • Proficient with Word and Excel.
  • Previous commercial construction site experience.
  • Contemporary knowledge of Western Australian OHS legislation.
  • Required to work as a contractor under your own ABN and have your own insurances.
  • A calm, mature approach.
  • An understanding that paper-based systems such as Take 5's do not necessarily keep a worksite safe. You need to offer practical help by being seen around the worksite, engaging with subcontractors and establishing relationships.
  • Flexible to move your working day hours to fit in with high-risk works.
  • Possibility to work on weekends occasionally as the project develops.
  • Work in with the company's certified HSE Management System (AS 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001).
