Xero Bookkeeper

Our growing accounting firm is currently looking for an experienced bookkeeper to join our dynamic, friendly team with a passion for small business.  The role is permanent part time, 3 days per week with potential to extend to full time.  You will be closely collaborating with our accountants to provide end to end accounting services direct to a diverse range of small to medium sized businesses.  The role requires in-depth knowledge and proven experience in all functions of Xero, together with at least three years experience working in a similar role in public practice.

We are looking for a confident communicator with a high attention to detail and proactive attitude who can add value to our clients businesses.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • End to end bookkeeping including all month end reconciliations
  • End to end payroll including EOFY reconciliations and STP compliance
  • Comprehensive creation of new client Xero files including client onboarding and training
  • Statutory compliance BAS, PAYG, Payroll Tax, Superannuation, Workcover
  • Liaising directly with clients via telephone and email
  • Assist with ad-hoc administration tasks to support accountants 
  • Liaising with the ATO on behalf of clients

Additional Skills and Capabilities

  • Excellent computer skills and highly proficient in the use of Xero
  • Certificate IV in bookkeeping/accounting desired
  • Advanced knowledge of GST obligations
  • Single Touch Payroll and SuperStream experience
  • Passion for building strong client relationships
  • Extremely high attention to detail
  • Highly personable, excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Discretion in relation to confidential information
  • Highly motivated with the ability to exercise initiative towards daily tasks
  • Ethical, honest and reliable
