About the role

 

Okane has a new opportunity for a Senior Engineer to join our team. This position is full-time permanent based in Perth or Brisbane Australia. Responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to, the following:

Technical:

  • Apply an advanced understanding of geological, geoengineering, environmental or engineering principles to assist in the delivery of new approaches to solve problems.
  • Prepare and review technical documentation and reports in area of technical discipline
  • Complete QA / QC checks on data captured by field monitoring systems or from laboratory testing programs.
  • Supervise staff and / or complete QA / QC checks on data captured by field monitoring systems.
  • Supervise the development of conceptual models in support of mine waste storage facility closure plan development, Failure Mode and Effects Analyses. 
  • Supervise the simulation of geochemical, hydrologic and hydrogeologic conditions for a given model domain developed through robust conceptual model analysis.
  • Demonstrate care about the wellbeing of yourself and others, through actively participating in OHS activities/requirements.

Project Coordination:

  • Foster and maintain client relationships.
  • Interact competently with internal and external stakeholders of varying levels of expertise. 
  • Primary Client Communication: Foster existing client relationships through proactive communication and identification of opportunities, project issues etc. 

 

 

Skills and experience

 

Candidates will ideally possess the following key qualifications, experience, skills, and qualities:

  • Experience in landform design, hydrology, geomorphology, visualisation or Civil 3D considered an asset.
  •  7+ years' experience in a similar position.
  • Mining or consulting background is considered an asset (but is not required).
  • Bachelor of Engineering (Environmental or Geomorphological).
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Apply technical knowledge at a competent level.
  • Strong skills in the areas of time management, planning and organising.
  • Demonstrate an ability to competently use their initiative to resolve tasks or problems that arise.
  • Ability and willingness to work with staff in different timezones. 
  • Should actively seek personal and professional development opportunities.
