Our family-owned company, located in Lonsdale and established in 1975, manufactures commercial bakery equipment and products for the food industry, including stainless-steel racks, benches, trolleys, dollies and dispensers.
We require a Production Supervisor with trade qualifications and proven proficiency with stainless steel fabrication and both TIG and MIG welding, to oversee all aspects of day-to-day production.
This position reports directly to the Operations Manager, and up to 8 positions will report directly to you. These include process workers, sheet metal workers, and welders.
This is a permanent, full-time position with excellent remuneration for the right person.
About the role
As Production Supervisor, you'll manage the people, systems and resources required to manufacture top-quality products in an efficient and cost-effective manner. You'll develop and foster sound working relationships with suppliers, clients, and contractors, while demonstrating commitment to our corporate values.
Implement and monitor an OH&S system to ensure the provision of a safe and healthy work environment for all workers.
Pro-active participation in the development of new products and manufacturing processes as required.
Compilation of quotes for the material and labour costs for products.
Ensure product drawings and specifications provide sufficient detail and information to meet the customers' requirements and support manufacturing requirements.
Allocate daily work activities and supervise production to ensure compliance with job specifications and completion of orders to agreed deadlines.
Setup and regular maintenance of the plant and equipment as required.
Ensure Quality Assurance testing is conducted on a regular basis to reduce the risk of wastage and ensure products meet agreed quality standards.
Supervise the estimation, order, and purchase of raw materials and consumables to ensure supply of the correction product and amount in a timely and cost-effective manner.
Ensure staff are provided with suitable induction, product, and technical training, to meet legislative obligations and provide staff with professional and personal development opportunities.
Exercise the responsibilities documented in the OH&S Manual, including: - Ensuring safe working methods and workplace cleanliness are maintained to ensure safe working conditions at all times. - Accident reporting and investigation. - Conducting regular and efficient hazard inspections. - Reporting and responding to any health and safety matters raised by employees. - Developing safe working procedures. - Inducting new employees and employees moving to new tasks. - Ongoing monitoring and development of employees' skills. - Cooperate and consult with management and colleagues in the promotion of occupational health, safety, and welfare manners.
Control stocks of raw materials, part-run, and completed manufactured stock.
Manage work being undertaken by external contractors to ensure it meets agreed quality standards, is completed on time, and charged at the correct rate.
