TIG & MIG Welder
Our family-owned company, located in Lonsdale and established in 1975, manufactures commercial bakery equipment and products for the food industry, including stainless steel racks, benches, trolleys, dollies, and dispensers.
We require a qualified TIG & MIG welder. This is a permanent, full-time position reporting directly to the Production Supervisor, with excellent remuneration for the right person.
About the role
As a welder at our plant, your primary responsibility will be TIG and MIG welding of stainless-steel and aluminium.
Each job must run with a primary focus on timeliness, accuracy, and safety in the welding area.
You'll interact with other staff daily and report directly to the Production Supervisor.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
Your duties as a TIG/MIG welder will include the following:
Create quality welds according to blueprints (weld symbols).
Assist with the training and supervision of inexperienced welders to ensure welds are up to an acceptable standard.
Ensure all equipment is properly set-up and used in a safe manner, and that all safety devices are in use.
Measure and align workpieces using straight-edges, clamps, and calipers.
Inspect welds for accuracy and quality.
Selecting and installing torch tips, filler rods, and flux according to the thickness of metal materials.
Prepare products to be welded by grinding, drilling, milling, tapping and cutting steel/aluminium parts.
Perform first piece inspections as well as subsequent inspections as required.
Carry out welding operations in accordance with the appropriate welding codes.
Change wire, welding, as needed.
Change gas tanks as needed.
Operate a forklift if required (Current forklift license preferred, but training will be provided if required).
Cooperate and consult with management and colleagues in the promotion of occupational health, safety, and welfare matters.
Monitor equipment and request maintenance when required.
Perform simple maintenance and repairs as required.
