Job Description

Based in North Sydney, we are seeking a dedicated Assistant Accountant to join our dynamic finance team.

Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will play an important role with providing assistance to a wide range of accounting functions including daily banking reconciliations, preparing journal and completing month-end processes.

The key components of the role include:

  • General Ledger
    • Process bank, payroll, month end and other miscellaneous journals
    • Complete monthly general ledger reconciliations and resolve all outstanding queries in a timely manner


  • Fixed Assets
    • Ensure that all fixed asset movements are recorded correctly
    • Undertake and manage stock take of Fixed Assets
    • Reconcile various fixed assets control and GL accounts 
    • SME for fixed assets


  • Cash Management
    • Upload bank statements into SAP on a daily basis
    • Reconcile main bank account on a daily basis
    • Reconcile all other bank accounts weekly/monthly
    • Raise USD, JPY and EUR bank statement transactions into SAP
    • Communicate with the bank on transactional matters
    • Prepare weekly cash flow
    • SME for cash management


Desired Skills and Experience

The successful candidate will have:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting
  • Minimum 3+ years experience as an Assistant Accountant within a medium to large organisation
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Experience in performing bank and other reconciliations
  • Experience in the maintenance of a fixed asset register
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Previous experience with SAP
  • Microsoft Office with advanced excel skills
  • Knowledge of foreign exchange transactions
