Our client, a long established and successful Mining Company are looking for an experienced and motivated Statutory Mechanical Engineering Superintendent (Manager level role and salary).
You will coordinate the Engineering and Maintenance activities for underground operations in line with the CMH&S Act, Regulations, engineering and maintenance requirements of the mine(s) whilst achieving budget performance in safety, production and cost.
Of particular note, duties will include:
Ensure operations are conducted in compliance with the Health and Safety Management System and Plans, legislative requirements, and safety instructions and directions, contributing to the company goal of "zero harm";
Manage performance by managing and monitoring of shift personnel and enforcing standards of work and behaviour;
Provide clear performance expectations to personnel and communicate role requirements; departmental targets, company goals and vision to your team;
Responsible for the development and implementation of engineering and maintenance standards for the surface and underground sections of the mine and to ensure that these key processes have relevant standards to operate under;
Identify and implement operations, work practice and workplace improvements through developing relevant systems to achieve safety and performance goals;
Assist with the development of cost effective strategies to meet legislative requirements & updates, and have these factored in the business planning.
Qualifications and experience should include:
A current NSW Mine Mechanical Certificate of Competence
Degree/Tertiary qualifications Mechanical Maintenance Engineering field
Demonstrated management and leadership capability
Demonstrated commitment to, and successful achievement of business goals and outcomes
Demonstrated technical & operational ability in a Mining environment
Sound commercial acumen with the ability to relate physical activities to budget goals and constraints.
Sound project management ability with a proven track record in management of minor and major capital projects.
Sound knowledge of and experience in applying relevant legislation and regulations to operations
Experience in working to budgets and capital cost expectations
Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills
Excellent communication skills
