An opportunity exists for a Supply Operations Lead - North.
Reporting to the Supply Operations Manager, the Supply Operations Lead will oversee the supply operations at the Newcastle and North Coast distribution centres and associated provisioning centres. Managing the processes and policy control for all yards and warehouses as well as being responsible for the effective and efficient management of yard and warehouse inventory. You will also have the ability to contribute to the development of formal policy, business rules and procedures in relation to inventory.
Your excellent communication skills will provide leadership, direction, support and coaching to achieve required service levels while monitoring all delivery, receiving and dispatching of goods in line with business guidelines against agreed service levels. You will oversee the logistics function to be carried out in a timely and cost-effective manner including accuracy and effective stock management procedures. The position will also manage regular stock takes and cycle counts at all storage locations. You will also work with the business to determine appropriate stock levels for routine maintenance and project demand.
You will have the ability to continuously look to improve and implement stock management processes and procedures and undertake continuous improvement processes. Your strong stakeholder engagement experience will be imperative between suppliers, Inventory Controllers and Asset Management teams to ensure smooth communications across teams in relation to stock fulfilment.
In this position you will have regular communication and interaction with the wider Supply Team, Managers, Suppliers and Logistic carriers.
Knowledge, skills and experience required for this role:
Tertiary qualifications in Logistics or Supply Management and/or extensive relevant industry experience.
Solid experience in a warehouse or stock management role in a multi-site environment.
Demonstrated understanding and experience of warehousing practices and leading a small team across a multi-site environment.
Proficiency with materials management systems and technology.
Strong communication skills both written and oral.
Proven organisational and time management skills.
An understanding of Work Health and Safety obligations and safety in construction.
Culturally resilient and capable of managing change in a challenging environment.
The ability to demonstrate a strong commitment to outstanding customer service.
Demonstrated ability to effectively manage a team and drive effective outcomes in a fast changing environment.
Clear and concise oral and written communications skills and the ability to communicate with all levels of the company, supplier representatives and management.
The ability to demonstrate a strong commitment to outstanding customer service and stakeholder engagement.
Honest and ethical approach and a clear understanding of ethical practices and probity within a large organisation.
Proficiency in utilising Microsoft Office and databases.
Knowledge of material cataloguing processes.
Ability to lift and carry heavy objects.
Proven competency to operate warehouse vehicles and equipment.
Current Class C driver’s licence.
Current (LF) Forklift licence.
Desirable for this role:
Knowledge of rail industry and rail materials.
Experience in a large engineering environment with exposure to a wide range of materials.
Experience with a large commercial procurement and inventory management system(s).
