Newmont Tanami is on Aboriginal freehold land 540km northwest of Alice Springs. It is a long-life, low-cost, world-class asset in a core Newmont region. The Tanami Expansion 2 project, aims to extend the mine life beyond 2040, investing in a hoisting shaft which will increase the production of the underground mine from 2.6 Mtpa to 3.2 Mtpa. Both the successful exploration within the underground operation and implementation of the first Tanami Expansion has laid the foundation to further develop the operation to remain a major contributor to the Newmont portfolio. A fully equipped 800 bed camp is located 40km from the site offering modern leisure facilities for those flying in from Perth, Brisbane, Alice Springs or Darwin.
Reporting to the Backfill & Services Superintendent, the Senior Pastefill Technician is to provide operational and subject matter expertise with respect to the safe and efficient operation Paste Plant located at Dead Bullock Soak (DBS).
The role is based in Tanami and offers an 8/6 FIFO roster from Perth, Brisbane, Darwin & Alice Springs ONLY. Due to COVID-19 the current temporary roster will be a 2/2 roster.
This position will be assisting in delivery of the following for Paste Plant surface processing:
- Required operator training and competency assessment (with support from the Process Trainer)
- Trouble shoot issues
- Isolation requirements
- Identify and escalate maintenance items
- Control room operation and reporting requirements
- Conduct paste sampling
- Environmental monitoring and adherence
- Paste operator activities and duties
- A Class drivers license.
- Minimum Year 10 completion and pass with previous mineral processing experience essential.
- Experience in operating Paste Plants greater than 500,000 tpa.
- Strong analytical skills, computer literacy and reporting ability.
- Training in Job Safety Analysis.
- Mobile equipment and loader experience.
- Forklift ticket (High Risk License).
