CNC Programmer & Operator

The Client

Our client operates a specialized Machine Workshop that provides precision machining, turning, milling and boring to manufactures a wide range of customized components to clients in the Mining, Oil & Gas, Marine and Heavy Industries.

Based in Canning Vale, our clients workshop is equipped with several state of the art CNC multi-axis and multi tool Lathes and Milling units as well Manual Lathes.

Due to an increase in demand of their services, our client is seeking to expand their team by employing an experienced CNC Operator / Machinist in order to keep up with production deadlines.

 

The Role

Our clients production runs can range from one off, single items through to large batches of 1000 +.  All manufacturing is to high tolerance of between 1 mm to 30 microns where in-house quality control ensures all completed items are to the exact specifications requested by their clients.

Our clients manufacture a wide range of components such as;

  • Flanges
  • Collars
  • Couplings
  • Shafts
  • Double ended nipples
  • Fittings
  • Housings
  • Brackets

Our client has the capabilities to manufacture components from the more challenging high strength steel alloys and exotic metals through to standard metal and plastics such as;

  • Carbon & Alloy Steels
  • Stainless Steel
  • Nickle Alloys
  • Non-Ferrous Metals
  • Exotic Metals
  • Duplex & Super Duplex
  • Plastics
  • Nylons

As an experienced CNC Operator / Machinist you will be managing multiple production runs at any one time, from start to finish, where your key responsibilities include;

  • Daily Maintenance & Pre-start Checks of the CNC Machines
  • Scheduling & Planning your daily tasks and production runs
  • Reviewing 2D & 3D plans and specifications of components to be manufactured in the CNC Unit
  • Programming, Configuring or Modifying existing programs onto the CNC unit for production runs
  • Ensuring that the optimal Tools & Dies are correctly selected in the programming function and are installed in the unit correctly to have the most efficient production runs as well as to negate any tools or dies getting damaged or worn unnecessarily
  • Ensuring all Tools & Dies are inspected regularly and are well maintained
  • Calculating materials and quantities from manufacturing specifications and plans
  • Loading the CNC units with pre-selected materials such as castings, stock bar and hollow bar
  • Continually monitoring the CNC machine in operation as well as removing completed jobs from the unit
  • Quality Assurance via visual inspection and precise measurements of completed jobs to ensure that completed jobs are to required specifications and tolerances
  • Liaising on a daily basis with Workshop Manager for a variety of reasons such as production time frames, technical issues or design & specification queries
  • Completing daily production and job sheets either hard copy or electronic

 

About the Candidate

We are seeking a candidate that has least 3 years post trade experience as a CNC Operator / Machinist, where candidates must possess a mechanical trade qualified in either of the following or similar;

  • 1st Class Machinist
  • Fitter & Turner
  • Mechanical Fitter
  • Cert IV Engineering CNC Programming
  • Tool & Die Maker

You will view yourself as an experienced CNC Operator / Machinist that has at least 3 years work experience in operating and programming CNC machines, where you possess the following skills;

  • Interpreting detailed 2D & 3D plans as well as client / plan specifications
  • Is able to conduct daily production planning & scheduling
  • Is highly competent in calculating materials & quantities required for production runs from detailed job specifications and plans
  • Highly experienced in programming CNC units in standard G-Code
  • Is experienced in CNC machine set up including loading materials correctly and selecting optimal CNC Tools & Dies
  • Is familiar with CNC pre-start procedures and maintenance
  • Is highly proficient in Quality Control where they are experienced in measuring completed jobs and conducting visual checks to ensure that completed jobs are to required specifications and tolerances
  • Is confident on computers and software for tasks such as CNC G-Code, completing job sheets, production run documents, QA documents and Procurement Request
  • Has the intention of securing ongoing work
  • Is able to work autonomously without regular supervision
  • Possess a very strong work ethic with a proven record of maintaining good time keeping and attendance at past employers
  • Has a Positive Attitude and is able use initiative to overcome challenges

 

Remuneration

This is a Temp to Perm role where you will initially work through Staff-Net on a casual basis for 2 to 8 weeks and after this time frame, if the client is happy with your quality of work and work ethic you will be offered a permanent role, been paid a similar hourly rate or equivalent salary. 

Depending on your experience the hourly rate will be between;

  • $38.00 to $42.00 Per Hour
  • + Super
  • Paid Weekly
