About the role

Reporting to the Company Director and working closely with our Warehouse team, you will be responsible for, but not limited to the following:

  • Maintaining collaborative relationships with current suppliers, partnering to develop new ranges and products in line with identified business opportunities and trends
  • Manage Sales Representatives and ensure KPI's are being met.
  • Helping to grow the existing customer base whilst identifying potential new suppliers
  • Undertaking regular reviews to ensure Customer satisfaction is maintained
  • Effectively manage stock levels to minimise any out of date items &/or potential loss of sales through insufficient stock volumes
  • Developing contracts with suppliers to meet cost, quality and delivery requirements
  • Planning, selecting and purchasing the range, mix and quantity of merchandise according to current trends and customer demands
  • Cost price negotiation to achieve and exceed sales and profit targets
  • Driving process improvements and development within the overall buying operation
  • General Management of the day-to-day operation of the business
  • Implement operational process improvement initiatives

Skills and experience

Our ideal candidate will possess the following attributes:

  • Significant experience in buying, or similar commercial roles with a proven track record to deliver against commercial objectives
  • Proven experience in managing Sales and Warehouse teams
  • Proven numerical and analytical skills with the appropriate commercial retail acumen
  • Ability to meet deadlines within a fast paced environment whilst balancing competing interest's
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to influence multiple stakeholders in order to achieve business outcomes
  • Excellent organisational skills and strong problem solving ability
  • Self-motivated with the ability to guide, develop and motivate others
  • Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to adapt in high stress situations
  • Highly proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications
  • Supermarket, Warehouse or other retail experience will be deemed beneficial
  • Flexibility with working hours and the ability to work a variety of days & hours in order to meet business needs is critical
  • MR and Forklift license essential
  • High level of professionalism and dedication
  • Strong commercial and business acumen
