Ngwala Willumbong Aboriginal Corporation (Ngwala) is a key service provider offering specialist alcohol and drug rehabilitation and outreach support services to the Aboriginal communities of Victoria.  

About the Opportunity

We have an exciting full-time opportunity for a motivated and experienced candidate to join our Finance Team. Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will be responsible for assisting with the transactional duties relating to Payroll and Purchasing coordination as well as other finance related duties when required.

Payroll responsibilities include checking, collating and entering timesheets onto MYOB. Youll ensure employees are compensated correctly and on time including petty cash reimbursements.

Purchasing responsibilities include buying products that are essential for day-to-day operations. You will review prices and quality and ensure optimal stock levels. Youll create and maintain good relationships with key suppliers to ensure merchandise is high quality and delivered on time. You will be liaising with Outreach staff and Rehab centres to assess purchasing needs and ensuring Accounts Payable receives accurate invoices for prompt payment.

Responsibilities

  • Process attendance records, timesheets and other related documents
  • Check payroll information for accuracy and ensure all relevant paperwork is in order
  • Process electronic payments and distribution of wage payments
  • When required, assist with other Payroll duties such as PAYG or Superannuation
  • Research potential vendors, comparing and evaluating offers from suppliers
  • Track orders and ensure timely delivery
  • Enter order details into Excel / MYOB
  • Maintain updated records of purchased products, delivery information and invoices
  • Monitor stock levels and place orders as needed
  • Assisting with ad hoc finance related duties as the need arises

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years proven experience as a Payroll / Purchasing Officer
  • Familiarity with Payroll / Purchasing processes
  • An analytical mind with good math skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • High work ethic (reliable, honest, self motivated, adaptable and a team player)
  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office tools (especially Excel)
  • Tertiary Accounting Qualifications (preferred)
  • Experience using MYOB

You will have strong organisation, time management, fact finding and analytical skills. Be self-confident in managing difficult situations, excellent communication and a common-sense approach that will see you build effective business relationships and rapport with colleagues and stakeholders.
