About the role
An excellent opportunity is currently available for a highly versatile and motivated individual with proven production experience within the manufacturing sector. This critical front-line supervisory role encompasses production, maintenance and continuous improvement activities as associated with the running and maintaining of a wide range of automated crushing and processing plant and equipment as well as boilers, turbines and generators which produce steam and electricity.
For approximately six months of the year the position is responsible for the production operations of an entire factory on-shift and involves leading a team of operators, tradespeople and laboratory analysts. For the balance of the year the position's primary focus is on co-ordinating maintenance activities and is of a non-shift nature.
Co-ordinate production operations on shift including ensuring production, quality, safety and environmental targets and standards are achieved and adhered to.
Lead and supervise production and maintenance teams of up to 15 to 20 personnel
Co-ordinate responses to breakdowns and incidents and conduct investigations.
Problem solve and trouble shoot technical and production issues
Coordinate aspects of the annual maintenance program in conjunction with the engineering and maintenance departments
Mentor and provide training and support to production operators
Interpret and report on a wide range of production data and activities.
Assist with the development and implementation of improvement projects and activities
Skills & experience required
Proven production co-ordination and/or process engineering skills and experience associated with a heavy manufacturing or similar operation
Demonstrated ability to co-ordinate maintenance programs and continuous improvement activities
Effective leadership and supervisory skills; including the ability to mentor and provide technical direction and training to production and maintenance teams
High level troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
Well-developed communication, administration and computer skills; including the ability to prepare and deliver reports, review and develop procedures and use computerised production and maintenance systems.
Relevant tertiary qualifications in the Science and/or Engineering fields
