RATES AND REVENUE OFFICER

The Town

Mosman Park is located along Stirling Highway approximately 14 kilometres from Perth and 3 kilometres from Fremantle. It is bordered by the suburbs of Cottesloe, Peppermint Grove, and North Fremantle; and is unique in having the Indian Ocean on its western boundary and the beautiful shores of the Swan River as its eastern boundary.

The position

  • Full time, permanent position with immediate start
  • Salary range: $61,810 to $77,939 per annum (depending on skills and experience)

Things we'll trust you with:

  • As the Rates and Revenue Officer you will ensure reconciliations are submitted to Financial Accountant for review within the timeframes set in the Month End Checklist.
  • Interim valuation rating adjustments to be processed within 6 weeks of receipt from VGO.
  • Pensioner claims to be submitted to the State Revenue Department at least each month and any rejections to be resolved within a week to ensure debt kept at minimal level.
  • Prepare quarterly remittance of Emergency Services Levy within the legislated timeframe.
  • Fees and charges in the accounting system and on the Towns website (including all forms) are accurate and complete.
  • Invoices to be prepared in a timely manner.
  • Receipting of remote payments daily.
  • Identify and help to implement continuous improvement of business processes and practices.

The successful applicant will possess;

  • Experience using Local Government rating software.
  • Prior experience in a similar financial administration position.
  • Working knowledge of Local Government Accounting requirements.
  • Sound knowledge of rating and valuation processes.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to problem solve anomalies.
  • Working knowledge of general ledger and associated costing systems.
  • Sound knowledge of debtors systems.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Experience in working with computerised accounting software/applications.

The following would be desirable but not essential:

  • Experience in process mapping, review and development.
