The Uniting Aboriginal and Islander Christian Congress (UAICC) is an association of Indigenous peoples within the Uniting Church in Australia. The UAICC works closely and in the Covenant relationship with the Uniting Church, in a national and state context.
The UAICC in South Australia has five active ministry centres; in Adelaide, Pt Augusta, Oodnadatta, Raukkan and Tailem Bend, and connects regularly with other congregations and ministry centres in South Australia through the Covenanting Committee. The Uniting Church Synod of South Australia empowers and supports Indigenous employment and decision-making.
We are currently seeking to employ a Finance & Administration Officer to support the ministries and mission activities of the South Australian Congress. The Finance & Administration Officer assists in the management of the financial activities and provides administrative support to the Regional Council of the South Australian Congress.
Reporting directly to the Congress State Development Officer, this position offers an exciting opportunity for the successful applicant to apply their skills and experience to a variety of financial functions, including reporting, budget management, accounts payable and funding applications.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Production of monthly, quarterly and annual financial management reports to UAICC and the South Australian Synod
- Budget management and administration of credit cards, processing expenditure and
- Provision of administration support including event planning, agenda development, minute taking and liaison with colleagues on resourcing Congress ministries
The successful applicant will have a proven background in bookkeeping, budgeting, financial management and reporting, accompanied by (as a minimum) Diploma level qualifications in finance or accounting. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in administration and in the use of MS Office (in particular in Word and Excel), are essential in this position.
The successful applicant will be culturally aware and have an ability to develop and maintain effective and strong relationships with First Peoples and non-Aboriginal people. It is vital for the successful applicant to have an active involvement in a Uniting Church or other mainstream Christian congregation or faith community.
