POSITION OVERVIEW

The Finance Officer is responsible for data analysis for program productivity, claims and fees reconciliation between funding database and accounting system. Prepare and maintain grants register for funding contracts. Prepares both internal and external billings to funding bodies and assures prompt collection. Allocates and verifies program expenditures with related budget and funding contracts. 

This is a full-time maternity leave contract role - 5 days a week expiring on February 26 2021 with possibility to extend.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintaining financial models and performing data analysis to ensure data integrity in client database with accounting system to ensure the accuracy and compliance of claims and fees charged to various Funding Department in timely manner
  • Preparation grant acquittals as per grant agreement requirements on timely manner
  • Process grant related invoices and client payments for both external and internal stakeholders.
  • Follow up outstanding grant invoices on regular basis
  • Performing month-end/year-end journals and reconciliations within tight timeframe
  • Investigating project variances and reports to Finance Manager
  • Maintaining appropriate grants register and filing system in accordance with contractual requirements. 
  • Coding and verifying program-related purchases against budget to ensure accurate cost allocation
  • Assisting in preparation of financial reporting, budgeting and auditing.
  • Staff support Assist with finance team members as needed
  • Ad hoc duties may be assigned as required

 

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Current Bachelors Degree in accounting, business or finance with over 3 years of financial accounting experience.
  • Desirable to have CPA qualified or studying toward
  • Intermediate experience in Excel is essential. Demonstrated skills in data validation and reconciliation techniques
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to connect detail to its context and analytic approaches.
  • Knowledge and experience relating to not-for-profit organization financial reporting and funding acquittals
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a keen customer focus
  • Ability to work independently with good time management skills
  • Ability to perform well in a team environment
  • Current Drivers License
  • Rights to work in Australia
