About IGCC

The Investor Group on Climate Change (IGCC) is a not for profit collaboration of Australian and New Zealand investors focusing on the impact that climate change has on the financial value of investments.

IGCC represents institutional investors, with total funds under management of over $2 trillion, and others in the investment community interested in the impact of climate change on investments. IGCC aims to encourage government policies and investment practices that address the risks and opportunities of climate change, for the ultimate benefit of superannuants and unit holders. 

As an organisation we also support the Asia Investor Group on Climate Change (AIGCC).

 

Role description & responsibilities

This role will be responsible for supporting the IGCC General Manager in maintaining the day to day financial operations of IGCCs investor initiatives, programs and projects. Working closely with the General Manager, this role will ensure that we have clear oversight of our financial position to support operational and strategic decision making. The Manager, Finance and Governance will help maintain IGCCs financial reporting and management systems,  ensure that all funding is acquitted in accordance with relevant funding agreements, assist with grant report & proposal writing, and maintain accurate and up to date information in our accounting systems.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Support the General Manager in ensuring that IGCC meets all governance and financial compliance requirements. 

  • Support our accountant in maintaining bookkeeping functions (accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll)

  • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and financial reporting to the IGCC Management Committee

  • Maintain effective systems for financial reporting, both internally and externally

  • Manage the year-end process and adhering to deadlines including liaising with external accountants and auditors

  • Assist with the preparation of annual budgets and ensure that actuals are recorded and monitored in line with this each month

  • Assist with annual reporting to and compliance with governing bodies

  • Maintain up to date financial forecasts

  • Review and continually improve financial and administrative procedures

  • Assist the IGCC and AIGCC teams with grants and donor reporting obligations

  • Review and continually improve cross-currency payment and financial management procedures.  

 

Skills and qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in accounting or finance.

  • 5+ years relevant accounting or bookkeeping experience

  • Experience with financial reporting

  • Comfortable working with large volumes of data in excel and working knowledge of common formulas/functions

  • Experience working in Xero or comparable accounting software

  • High level of attention to detail

  • Ability to work independently across a growing and pan-regional team in Asia and Australia. 

  • Experience supporting the development of grants and donor reports

  • Experience working in an NFP organisation (desirable). 

 

Work arrangements and salary 

This is an ongoing role. The salary would be negotiated subject to experience. This role is based in Sydney. We are looking for a candidate that can start as soon as possible.
